Nothing can be said about Bharathari’s life. It is said that Maharaja Gandharva Sen was the king of Ujain in the first or second period of BC. He had two wives; one wife’s son was Bharathari, and the other wife’s son was Vikram Aditya, whose name, Vikramiya Samvat, became popular. After the assassination of Maharaja Gandharva Sen, Bharthari took responsibility for the state. After some time, King Bharthari became ascetic and handed over his kingdom to his younger brother, Vikram Aditya.

The life story of Raja Bharathari

The short story of Bharathari.

Bharathari Kingdom was run very well. Despite having two wives, he married Pingla for the third time. Once, while traveling around Bharthari, he reached a state near Ujjain. There, he saw a woman; she was very beautiful. After showing her to the woman, Bharthari goes to her and says to her, I want to marry you. The woman replies, If you want to marry me, you will have to ask my parents. Because he has given birth to me, I will not do anything against him, which will make me repent in the future. The king agrees and goes to his parents to ask them. The king tells them, I am the king of the nearby kingdom of Ujjain. I like your girl and want to marry her. After listening to the king’s words, the woman’s parents think for some time. After thinking for some time, he agrees. And his daughter’s hand. Give it into the hands of the king.

The king brings his third wife to his kingdom. Now the king starts to consider himself very lucky. He thinks that such a beautiful wife is my queen, and there are people like her in the entire kingdom. Now the king, forgetting his duties, kept following the queen. One day, the king went to the forest for hunting. He hunted a deer, went near the dead deer, and showed its flowing blood and thought. He thinks, I love my wife so much; does she also love me the same? After thinking so much, he thinks of testing his wife. He comes up with an idea; he calls a soldier standing nearby and tells him, You have to do a job today. I will soak your clothes in the blood of this deer, and you have to go and show these clothes to the queen and say that the king had gone to hunt a lion, but that lion made him its prey. That soldier says to the king, “How can I do this work? I am a small soldier.” Maharaj, don’t make me fall into this sin. Hearing all this from that soldier, the king says, If you do not follow my orders, then it is not a sin. After thinking for some time, the soldier gets ready. The soldier goes to the palace, approaches the queen, and tells her that the king is no more; he was killed by a lion. The queen angrily tells the soldier, “You are not feeling even the slightest bit shy while telling such a big lie.” The soldier says, I am also lying; if you have faith, then here are the clothes stained with the Maharaj’s blood. After seeing this, the queen sacrifices her life.

The next day, the king comes to the palace and finds that his wife has died because of his lie. The king repents a lot and starts crying a lot. Because of this grief, they become very sad. Seeing him crying like this, a Mahatma Sadhu passing by broke his kamandalu by hitting it in anger. That saint was Mahatma Guru Gorakhnath Ji; he said, Why are you so sad? This is the rule of law. The king says that my wife died because of me. I wanted to test it, and this happened. Gorakhnath ji says that just as this is not my Kamandalu purse, it cannot be the same as before. The king still does not agree, he tells Samay.

Gorakhnath ji, if someone else like me makes Kamandalu, then I will give your wife a purse alive. After listening to them, the king calls many artisans from the kingdom and asks them to make a similar kamandalu. At the same time, he says that if anyone does this work, I will give him half of my kingdom. Hearing the king’s words, everyone gets greedy and makes beautiful kamandalu from that kamandalu. No one has been able to create another Kamandalu like that. Gorakhnath Ji now disagrees and starts leaving. But the king falls at their feet and starts begging for his wife’s life. Due to his doing this for some time, Gorakhnath ji agrees and brings Bharthari’s wife back to life. Gorakhnath Ji would have disappeared after resurrecting Pingla.

The king is very happy to see his wife alive again. Now the king starts trusting his wife more than before. Now Bharthari forgot his duty and started spending all his time with his wife. Seeing all this, Bharthari’s younger brother Vikram got upset and explained to his elder brother that he should forget his state religion also. And it is necessary to run this state well. I am younger than you, so you should know this. After saying this, Vikram walks away.

One day, Vikram goes to the stable to see the horses and sees that all the horses are resting. After seeing all this, he calls the person handling the horses and asks whether he is giving them food and drink. Many people say that yes, I take good care of them, but food is not the reason for their condition. The reason for this is our queen Pingla; she is there every night at 2 o’clock, and Sansa selects a good horse from among them and takes her somewhere. The horses have become in this condition due to running fast during Brahma Muhurta in the morning. On hearing this, Vikram sneezes and starts wondering who my sister-in-law goes to meet every night. The whole day, this thought keeps running through his mind: Where does his sister-in-law go every night, and whom does she go to meet? She goes to the stable and says to the one who is guarding her, I will stay here tonight; you go away from here at this time.

Vikram starts waiting for his sister-in-law to arrive at night. As soon as it is 2 o’clock in the night, Queen Pingla is very excited, and as soon as she moves forward on the horse, Vikram appears in front of her. Seeing this, Pingla asks Vikram, Why have you blocked my path? Vikram does not answer anything and asks her whom she is going to meet so late in the night. Queen Pingla gets scared after hearing this, and without giving any answer, she leaves the horse and walks towards her room. Now Pingla starts thinking that as soon as morning comes, Vikram will tell everything to his brother, i.e., Maharaj. I must do something before she does something. Now Rani’s mother develops a bad temper and starts plotting against Vikram. The woman loosens her hair and tears her clothes; after doing all this, she lies down on the ground. As soon as the meal is over, the king comes to Pingla’s room and sees Pingla lying on the ground crying. Seeing all this, the king asks Pingla what happened, and Pingla says that your enemy Vikram has done all this. The king trusted his wife Pingla a lot, which is why he called Vikram without asking anyone else for an answer. And I told him that if you were not my brother, I would have killed you, but I will kill you even with my life; I also have love for you. For this reason, I expel you from this kingdom.

After today, defeat will be visible in this state. Vikram said some go away due to anger or hatred. But before leaving, Vikram tells Bharthari to stay away from his wife. Pingla is very happy to see all this; now she thinks that there is no one to stop her. Now Pingla has again started going to meet her lover every night.

One day, Pingal goes to that person at night and says that now we can meet like this also. You do one thing: come to the palace early in the morning tomorrow and ask my husband, i.e., the king, for a job. This will mean that we will be able to meet every day. Morning comes, and people come to the royal court and start demanding jobs. He tells the king that his mother is very ill and he needs to take care of her. Hearing all this, the king gives him a job. Pingla, who was sitting on the ledger, was also very happy to see all this.

Now, many years pass like this. One day, the king was passing through the nearby forest, but he met the same guru who had brought Queen Pingla back to life. Seeing them, he went to them and paid obeisance to them. The king did a very good job for Guru Gorakhnath ji. Seeing the king giving such good sake, Gorakhnath ji was very happy with him and gave him a fruit and said, This fruit is a magical fruit. If someone eats this today, he will never grow old; he will always remain young. After giving that moment to the king, Gorakhnath Ji leaves.

The king wonders what I will do with this fruit. For me, no one is more important than my wife, so I will give it to her. The king reaches the mile and gives the fruit to Queen Pingla. After the king’s departure, Queen Pingla thinks that for me, my lover is everything, and I will give this fruit only to him. When the queen meets her lover, she gives him the fruit. Now looking at that fruit, the person thinks, What will I do with this fruit? For me, my girlfriend is everything; I will give her this fruit. That man also loved a prostitute living in the same state. When he goes to meet her, he gives that fruit to this whore and walks. Now that the whore thinks that if I eat this fruit, I will get freedom from such a life full of hell, our king needs this fruit the most; if he eats this fruit, then he will live longer. This will mean that they will be able to take care of this state for a longer period of time, which will make the state better. With this thought in mind, she leaves the palace as soon as the morning dawns and flows away to show the fruit. After seeing the fruit, the king understands that it is my fruit, which I gave to my wife, Pingla.

The king gets angry after seeing this and asks him where he got this fruit from. The prostitute is afraid and tells the whole truth, after which the person is called. As soon as that person arrives, he is asked, and he also says that Queen Pingla has given him this fruit. Now that Queen Pingla is called, Queen Pingla tells everyone out of fear that she loves that person, which is why I gave that fruit to him. After hearing all this, Bharthari regrets a lot that he gave such a big punishment to his brother without thinking. The king calls some soldiers and sends them to find his brother Vikram. The king imprisons all three of them.

Vikram is found and brought, and Raja comes to him, hugs him, and apologizes. Bharthari now becomes a recluse, hands over everything to his younger brother Vikram, and goes to do penance. He reaches a nearby cave and starts doing penance on the book.

Facts:

The cave in which Bharathari used to perform penance is still present near Ujjain.

Gorakhnath ji, after testing Bharthari several times, declared him his very good disciple.

Bharthari has written many books, among which Vairagya Satkaam is very popular.

Conclusion:

I learn from this story that, if we trust someone, then we should not trust him too much. Due to this, we will feel sad in the future. Another lesson we learn from this story is that if we love someone, we should not become blind to that love. The rest is up to you as to what you find out after reading this.
